Jim Chisolm is a Chappell Hill business owner, prior CEO/COO for
several large corporations, a former United States Air Force
officer, and an educator with his Doctoral degree. His mission is
to use his business experience, problem-solving skills, and
education to plan for the future of Washington County, Texas.
Jim stands out for his commitment to adopting a fiscally
conservative budget and a tax rate that reflects the values of the
community. He will maintain open and transparent
communication with our residents and ensure efficient
operation of every county department.

Championing Fiscal Responsibility
Fiscal responsibility is at the core of his vision—a county where every tax dollar is used effectively and transparently utilized. A primary value is to find ways to limit the size of government and minimize the tax burden on the citizens. “We need to reflect the values of our community and ensure a prosperous future for
all”.
Promoting Transparent Governance
The vision prioritizes open and transparent communication, ensuring that every decision made by the county government is accessible and understandable to the residents, fostering a sense of trust and accountability. He is preparing this website to serve as a forum and reporting platform to enhance communications. We will hold Town Hall meetings throughout the year to address your concerns and give further insight into county operations.
Empowering Community Engagement
I am committed to inspiring and empowering residents to actively participate in shaping the future of Washington County, Texas, through open dialogue, collaboration, and civic engagement. I want to see your issues. Have a road or bridge issue? I will do a ride-along to see exactly what the issue is. Have questions or concerns, I will address them and keep you apprised of current and future happenings.
Protecting the Sheriff's Department
The Sheriff’s Department needs fiscal assistance. They are our first line of defense and are having issues with staffing and retention. This will be a high priority: to review the county budget and find funds that can be redirected to this important service.
